RF5-E40 Photoluminescent Flat Stair Nosings

Ecoglo®’s RF5-E40 Photoluminescent Anodized Flat Stair Nosing provides superior step edge visibility and enhances egress speed in all light conditions due to the clear egress instructions they provide. Thanks to these features, our aluminum stair nosing provides a cost-effective way to renovate and modernize worn stairways while also improving stairway safety. Our abrasive stair treads can be easily installed on a range of substrates, including timber, tiles, concrete, steel, and checker plate stairs. We designed our aluminum stair nosing so you can easily bring your building up to code while also complementing its design.

Ecoglo® is known amongst photoluminescent sing suppliers for creating effective egress signage that will provide stellar visibility solutions and improve pedestrian safety. Our team’s goal is to help prevent trips, slips, and falls in all visibility conditions, ensuring your patrons can navigate your facility safely – especially when used in conjunction with our illuminated emergency exit signs. Remember… with Ecoglo®, you’ll never miss a step!

Environmentally Friendly Aluminum Stair Nosing
  • We designed our stair strips to qualify for LEED Points – meaning they are extremely energy efficient and green.
  • Since our illuminated stair treads use photoluminescent strips, our product consumes zero energy.
  • Our stair strips are non-toxic and non-radioactive – a hallmark trait of every Ecoglo® product.
  • Our anti-slip stair nosing can be disposed of at no additional cost and is recyclable.
Step Edge Safety
  • Our team designed the non-slip strips of our aluminum stair nosing to clearly contrast with the photoluminescent strips to provide clear step edge visibility in all lighting conditions.
  • Our illuminated stair treads provide all-weather slip resistance using unique ridges in the Ecoglo® photoluminescent strips and the integrated anti-slip contrast strips.
Metal Stair Nosing Engineered for Durability
  • We produce our aluminum stair nosing using Ecoglo®’s patented manufacturing process to create the most durable and efficient abrasive stair nosing on the market.
  • The unique ridges in our photoluminescent strips work to protect the product from most abrasive wear. They also provide stellar slip resistance and are still easy to clean.
  • Thousands of people can walk on our stair strips without any signs of wear and tear. This is due to integrally bonding the hard-wearing silicon carbide non-slip material to the aluminum substrate of the nosing.
  • Our aluminum stair nosing’s thick anodized finish is aesthetically pleasing, extremely hard, abrasion-resistant, and prevents corrosion. The anodized aluminum surface of our product is harder than pure aluminum – second only to diamond’s hard crystalline structure.
Stair Strips For Indoor Use and Outdoor Use
  •  Ecoglo® aluminum nosing is proven to be highly resistant to the effects of UV/weathering.
  • When subjected to 6,000 hours of UV exposure, which is similar to 30 years of outdoor exposure, our stair strips’ loss in performance is less than can be detected by the human eye.
  • The polymer we use in our patented manufacturing process is “long chain, which forms a strong UV resistant product when bonding.

General Information

  • Ecoglo® aluminum stair nosing can be easily installed with polyurethane adhesive and mechanical fasteners, or with adhesive only.
  • Our non-slip steps come supplied with pre-drilled countersunk holes, concrete nylon anchors, and stainless-steel fasteners. We drill these holes in a standard location of 2” from each end and approximately 12” apart.
  • The inserts for our aluminum tread nosing are supplied unattached and can be easily installed over the mechanical fasteners using a polyurethane adhesive (which are included). These inserts can be cut using a shear, while aluminum nosing should be cut with a saw. Warning: cutting inserts with a saw will damage the saw blade.
  • Weight: 1.106 lbs/ft.

Aluminum Finish
  • Ecoglo® illuminated stair nosing is available in a Clear Anodized Aluminum Finish.
  • Dark Bronze, Light Bronze, and Black Anodized finishes are available for an additional cost.
