The installation of luminous egress path markings in both new and existing high-rise commercial buildings became mandatory in the State of Oklahoma with the enforcement of the Building Code 2015 of Oklahoma, which adopts the 2015 International Building Code [see IFC 1104.25, 1025]. Accordingly, all new and existing high rise buildings in the State of Oklahoma must install luminous egress path markings in order to meet code compliance.

Stairways within an egress pathway must be properly equipped to provide occupants with a safe evacuation. It is critical stair treads, handrails and obstructions remain visible in all conditions. Luminous egress path markings and directional signage provide an always-visible, easy to follow egress pathway.
With ecoglo® you can create a code compliant, custom luminous egress pathway in your Oklahoma facility!
Section 1025 provisions provide an additional level of safety to buildings’ egress paths by requiring the installation of photoluminescent or self-illuminating marking systems that do not require electrical power and the associated wiring and circuits. This means that even if a building’s power supply fails to operate, photoluminescent egress markings ensures occupants can safely egress a building via exit stairways. This is especially necessary in high-rise buildings, which feature a greater anticipated occupant load and occupants which way not be familiar with the emergency exit path.
