Requirements for luminous egress path markings become retroactive to existing high-rise buildings with the adoption of the 2015 International Building Code [see IFC 1104.25, 1025], as part of the 2018 North Carolina Building Code, which came into effect in January 2019. As such, it is now mandatory for all new and existing high-rise commercial building across the state to install luminous egress signage and path markings in stairwells and landings, as per local building code guidelines.
All of Ecoglo®’s luminous egress path markings have been manufactured using our patented process, producing the best photoluminescent properties available on the market.
With more than 20 years of experience behind us, Ecoglo® has expertly engineered our luminous egress path markings to provide a bright, steady, and long-lasting photoluminescent light source that is guaranteed to help guide patrons to the exit discharge, even during a power outage. Even before luminous egress path markings were required by today’s building codes, Ecoglo® has been working with building and facility managers in North Carolina to provide the most reliable emergency lighting products available.
Ecoglo® offers a wide range of photoluminescent path marking products, which are non-toxic and non-radioactive, to meet the needs of every project. Once fully charged, from exposure to either a natural or artificial light source, our luminous egress path markings are sure to light your building’s egress path for hours after the power has failed.
Remember… with Ecoglo, you’ll never miss a step!
When the power in your North Carolina facility fails, you can rely on Ecoglo®’s luminous egress path markings to brightly light the egress path, helping occupants to safely and quickly move to the exit discharge.
In all lighting conditions the importance of the visibility of stair treads, handrails and other obstructions within an egress pathway is very important, especially in emergency conditions.
People’s vision can often be compromised under such circumstances, especially since they are under duress, so it is crucial for patrons of buildings to be able to easily find their way out to safety.
Our industry-leading and cost effective luminous egress path markings make it easier than ever to bring your Indiana facility up to code, and help protect lives from the dangers of fire.
The provisions set out in Section 1025, adopted as part of the North Carolina Building Code, provide an additional level of safety to any building’s egress path, by requiring the installation of photoluminescent or self-illuminating marking systems that do not require electrical power. Even if a building’s power supply fails to operate, photoluminescent egress markings ensure occupants can safely exit a building via exit stairways. This is especially necessary in high-rise buildings, which feature a greater anticipated occupant load and occupants who may not be familiar with the emergency exit path.
