As part of the 2015 Michigan Building Code, the requirement for luminous egress path markings became retroactive to existing high-rise buildings, as per the adoption of the 2015 International Building Code [see IFC 1104.25, 1025]. As such, it is no mandatory for all new and existing high-rise commercial buildings in the state of Michigan to install luminous egress signage and path markings in stairwells and landings.
To bring your Michigan facility up to code, ecoglo® offers the safest, longest-lasting and most-cost effective luminous egress path marking products available on the market.
Before luminous egress path markings were required by building, fire and life safety codes, ecoglo® has been dedicated to enhancing safety in facilities within Michigan and across the nation. With more than 20 years of experience we have perfected our patented manufacturing process to bring you the best photoluminescent properties available on the market. The bright, long-lasting glow of ecoglo® products is sure to enhance egress speeds, and safety in any facility.
To provide hours of photoluminescent light, our luminous egress path markings only require exposure to a natural or artificial light source to gain a charge, and operate completely independently of a building’s electrical circuits.
Remember… with Ecoglo, you’ll never miss a step!
If you have installed ecoglo®’s luminous egress path markings in your Michigan facility, you can rest easy knowing when the power fails in your building, the egress pathway will be brightly lit, safely guiding occupants to the exit discharge.
The visibility of stair treads, handrails and any obstructions within a facility’s egress path is very important, especially during an emergency. In emergency conditions, a person’s vision can often be compromised, especially because they may be under duress, so providing a clear egress path is crucial to safety.
Our expertly engineered luminous egress path markings make it easier than ever to bring your Michigan facility up to code, and potentially save lives.
Section 1025 requirement provide an additional level of safety to an egress path, by requiring the installation of photoluminescent or self-illuminating marking systems that do not require electrical power. When a building’s power fails, luminous egress path markings will be there to brightly light the egress pathway, and safely guide patrons to the exit discharge. This is crucial in building’s where it is likely occupants or patrons are unfamiliar with the exit path.

The State Fire Marshal works to protect citizens, as well as the environment, from the harms of fires and fire related incidents, in all aspects of life. As you know, providing occupants with a safe exit route is critical in protecting citizens from the harms of fires. As such, the requirement for luminous egress path markings within Michigan facilities go hand-in-hand with the Fire Marshal’s goal of protecting citizens from the harms of fire.
