The C5 series is designed to create a highly visible step edge to reduce falls and enhance speed in all situations whether light, dark or dimly lit. The aluminium step nosing is fitted onto the edge of carpeted steps which have a shorter pile than the C4 series. The C5 nosing is designed to be installed on rounded or bevelled carpeted steps.

The photo-luminescent strip is visible for many hours after the lights go out, having been charged from sunlight or artificial light. The anti-slip mat provides all weather protection from slips and falls. Fixers are concealed by this anti-slip mat.

Carpet should be removed from the step edge, which is a simple process. This means the nosing is independent of the carpet and the carpet can be changed without removing the nosing. As an alternative, the flat nosing (F4171) can be fitted over carpeted steps, if there is no underlay and the carpet's thickness is no greater than 6mm (1/4")
